When Wordpress.org posted "WordPress 3.1, lots of fun" they lied. It really means you're doomed! Well that's just an exaggeration, well actually it just leaves your site a little f*cked up. Well I didn't lose hope when I found multiple Error 404's on my posts, I just panicked a few hours. Google was my friend so I asked him for help, he showed me a lot of links containing answers. A lot of ways to fix things temporarily and not fix it the way it was. Most famous instructions were 1.Disable/Enable all plugins 2.Delete .htaccess from my server and let WP regenerate it 3.Setting your permalinks to default. None of them worked. I panicked again and more hours were spent reading more people's posts. This thread was the real "lots of fun", It has all the fix for "known" issues found by people who upgraded, and found their own fixes. In my case, installing the Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack solved my 404 problems. Glad that one's over. The only problem left was the categories still broken. I found that the dropdown category widget still works so I decided to stick with that until they fix all these bugs on the next "STABLE" version. I'm running now the 3.1-RC3 version, hoping it will fix the categories but... yeah "lots of fun". So before upgrading to 3.1 make sure to think twice.
